Amazing Mike

Amazing Mike was caught with his mate "Doris" and son "Crumpet" at Castle rocks hut by the Franz Josef glacier. As its only possible to band one kea at a time, we had to leave Mike in his catch bag tied to one of the bunks which always results in many escape attempts. Usually through biting their way out. However, this bird thought he could jump and dance his way out. We were going to call him Magic Mike (we'll leave that one up to you) but his band combo was going to be AM and so we thought he could be the New Zealand version instead. "Amazing Mike"
