In August 2016 Andrew was caught by DOC Kea Guru Corey Mosen and taken into the South Island Wildlife Hospital to have treatment for lead poisoning. After a few weeks, he was then released back into the wilderness. Unfortunately Andrew was killed at the Temple Basin Ski Area in July 2017 (chewing power lines).
