Bia is a beautiful adult female kea, found in Arthur’s pass village during late 2022 with an injured toe. The toe became infected and looked very sore so she was taken into the care where she spent several months with the Dr Pauline and her wonderful team at the South Island Wildlife Hospital. Bia made a full recovery and was released into the Bealey Valley on February 5th 2023 along with a young kea ‘Junior’ who was rescued from a building in the Temple Basin ski area in December 2022 by local hero Nic. Please keep your eye out for these kea and report your observations here if you see them!
