A mix between 'Chamois' and a song 'Our Shangri-la' by Mark Knopfler inspired the name for this beautiful kea living in a perfect setting among the tussocks, and Dracophyllums in this sub-alpine shangri-la where the odd chamois roams and kea soar. Chamri-la was a sweet young first-year kea at the time of banding (June 2023) and was close with Aladin and seen with a group of six other kea of various ages.
