Elgin was caught as a fledgling at Aoraki Mt Cook National Park in February 2020 by Laura and held for banding by Sandra Anderson. He is named for Sandra’s dad Bruce Anderson who often took his kids tramping in the hills, but is now elderly and can only go there in his thoughts. Elgin is a village in Scotland where Bruce's grandfather, who he was very fond of, lived. It seemed fitting that this wee kea lad had a name from snowy cold places and an association with people who loved the same.
