This lovely young kea has been named after Karen - a dedicated member of the team at the South Island Wildlife Hospital, Christchurch. Karen and Pauline and others work tirelessly, mostly in their volunteer time, to look after sick and injured wildlife and have treated many kea for lead poisoning over the years, helping them recover and rehabilitate before releasing them back into the wild.
