Kauri was brought into the South Island Wildlife Hospital in early 2017 by Mark Brabyn and Laura Young for treatment for lead poisoning. His profile picture shows him trying to figure out how to get into a cardboard tube which contains his favourite food – oranges! After a few weeks treatment Kauri (along with another kea also undergoing treatment for lead poisoning) was released back into the wild. He was named and is sponsored by the Lyttleton Cubs
