Kia ora, I’m Keata! I was named by Pride Conservation after they held a public competition to name me. Over 100 people from around the world were caring enough to submit a name for me which was awesome! Keata was decided on as my final name as got the most votes by the people - it feels good to be the people’s bird! See you in the mountains. *Keata was banded during January 2020 as a fledgling at the Otira Viaduct lookout near Arthur's Pass. She is actually quite famous, starring as the leading lady in the Jeff Corwin Show - watch this space!
