Les C is an adult male kea who was recaptured in the Upper Barlow in January 2020 as part of a ZIP banding exercise and subsequently turned up feeding on Tahr carcasses in the area. Les was my Dad who passed away in February 2024 at the great age of 95. He was a outdoorsman. He loved the Landsborough Valley and South Westland in general. He followed ZIPs activities with keen interest so it is appropriate to name a kea after him in the area he loved.
