Moira

Moira was banded as a juvenile at Mackenzie Hut on Fiordland's famous Routeburn track in December 2020. She was named by the staff and volunteers of Denver Zoo in Denver, Colorado, USA. Staff conducted a naming contest in Spring 2021 to celebrate Denver Zoo’s financial and in-kind contributions to the Kea Conservation Trust annually since 2018, and to the Kea Sightings Database since 2020. Currently several Denver Zoo staff members are helping to enter historical data from the KCT’s sightings webpage to keadatabase.nz so all sightings information can be in one location. Moira was named after the matriarch of the Rose family on the popular Netflix show "Schitt's Creek."
