This petite female kea was a part of a large flock (of at least 13) regularly visiting the White Horse hill campground during the summer of 2020. She was banded as a fledgling and named 'Nazomi' by the team after a stunning rock peak and neighbour to the South ridge of Aoraki/Mt Cook in the Hooker valley. Nazomi (the mountain) was first climbed by Peter & Alex Graham and Freda Du Faur in 1912 and named Nazomi by Freda - Japanese for 'Hope' or 'Wish'.
