Nina was banded as a young fledgling at the Otira viaduct lookout during early February 2020. She is a special little kea because she is soon to be the leading lady in a documentary series looking at what it means to be Predator Free New Zealand. Look out for this on the RNZ platform later in 2020. She was named Nina after the daughter of film maker Peter Young, who accompanied some of the team for the week on a field trip in various kea hotspots of the South Island. Peter is known for his exceptional documentary "Last Ocean" and New Zealand's longest-running show Country Calendar and is now telling the story of some of New Zealand's wildlife and becoming a Predator Free NZ.
