Caught at the Fox Glacier airstrip with his brother "Padfoot". Prongs was the first to fly in and check us out. Very curious about our 3D printed model. Sometimes young healthy birds will puff up all of their feathers, drop their wings and hang around adult birds, begging. This is what Prongs and Padfoot did to Ingmarie after they were banded. He eagerly feed them, as fledglings are often still fed by their parents outside of the nest. However, it is worth noting that these same signs are also common in sick birds. Sick kea can have puffy feathers, dropped wings, unstable on their feet or be scrounging for food. So if you're ever worried or unsure, ring your local DOC office and one of the rangers will go and check on the birds
