Rab, the outdoor extraordinaire was named after the outdoor brand that is well loved by West coast Tai Poutini Polytechnic students studying outdoor education who came to help the team with kea catching and banding during July 2020 at the Otira Viaduct lookout. Rab was caught and banded as a fledgling, less than a year old, along with five others that day. Much like Rab sleeping bags, Rab's kind nature will keep you warm. Rab was such a patient Kea as the TPP students helped Kea Conservationists/DOC tag him. This special Kea will not only help these TPP students pass their ecology assignments with some awesome footage for their videos but will also forever be remembered and hopefully seen again. "We'll always be sure to come and visit you Rab as we head to Temple Basin Ski field to hit the slopes" ~ TPP students; Mel, Emma, Joey, James and Reegan
