Squall was banded at Mount Mitchell near to Fox Glacier on 25th May 2021. Squall is the name for a sudden violent gust of wind or localized storm, especially one bringing rain, snow, or sleet. However, it is also the word for a loud call or cry. Both definitions fit the kea and their habitat well.
