Tolstoy

Tolsltoy is an adult male Kea from the Milford Track, Fiordland. He is sponsored for Visko Matich in honour of his 30th Birthday by his girlfriend Anna Hancock and his sister Sofija Matich. Visko admires Kea for their intellect, strong characters and mischievous natures! (Traits not so dissimilar to his own!). Visiting Kea in the South Island is one of Visko’s must-do’s and he has the stories to go with it. Most recently at Death’s Corner he stopped to find a Kea who was a bit of a thrill-seeker! The bird spent all day catching rides down the hill on the back of tourist vans just so it could fly up and do it all over again! Visko loves the strong will and fun-loving nature of these remarkable birds. Supporting the conservation of this unique species is very important to Visko and having become a Kea Supporter in 2020, sponsoring Tolstoy is the next step in supporting the crucial work of the Kea Conservation Trust. Tolstoy is named after Visko’s favourite novelist and philosopher, Leo Tolstoy. It is a strong name that carries nobility and respect.
