Walter

Walter was banded at Liverpool Hut in early March 2024. He was a fledgling when banded. 05 Nov 2024 Update - Sadly Walter was found dead at a site in the West Matukituki in September 2024. His remains were sent to Wildbase Hospital to determine the cause of death. They found that he was generally in poor body condition. 'On x-ray, there were several tiny pieces of metal in his stomach (they could not be readily identified at post mortem); these were likely pieces of lead, as the level of lead in the liver was in the toxic range.'
