Behaviour
"Yes. Beautiful birds but obviously VERY used to begging or scrounging for food here. Two customers were pretty pissed off with one of the birds who tried to take an Afghan biscuit and the man was observed waving hands and arms and at one point pushed bird with hands off wooden table. This man was a Kiwi. Both birds were naughty though. One tried to drink a left over milk shake till I removed it. One broke a plate. Both of them knew where the rubbish bins were and checked them twice. One bird sat upon a chair at front of cafe and I had to tell a group of visiting Asian people not to touch it or need it as one man in group seemed to think I was in charge of it and asked my permission to touch it until I said firmly NO. I pointed out the cafe's Poster showing the birds and signs about not feeding them. I told them all to take photos as this was a rare bird and a rare occasion to see such a rare animal. They declined as they just seemed to want to touch it or go for a coffee. Some tourists are strange and do not realise the true beauty of nature in front if them and have a bewildering ignorance of why they shouldnt touch a wild animal. Can more information sheets in language appropriate options be handed to visitors at arrivals lounges ?? I have a lot of photos and have only uploaded one on this portal I think. If you want more feel free to email. Thanks. Louise Morgan" https://www.keaconservation.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/gravity_forms/2-0becbee190fca8fc06070d0f888ccd98/2018/09/20180920_133228.jpg
