Okarito village. Campground and beach behind the campground.
Comments
Thoroughly enjoyed watching 2 kea trying to rip a tyre apart on the runway at Okarito this evening. The birds are very unconcerned with people about and are tolerating photography at ~1.5m distance with no apparent distress. They are very busy in the flax flowers, and we've also observed on bird in the ground picking pratia flowers, sort of massaging the flower and then not eating the flowers.
Behaviour
Calling, flying, feeding on flax flowers, squabbling amongst themselves. We've seen up to 7 kea at one time. I've only seen one bird with bands on. Id'ed from a photo.
