In and around Arthurs Pass Village, the shop and Crusher Loop Road
Comments
I am not listing all the birds here as there were too many, I rather only list the ones with bands (and photos to match them to). At a conservative count, there were at least double the number of un-ringed juveniles or even fledglings than adults with rings. Most thankfully in and around the trees as their natural food source but some chew on the nails of one house or the power poles. I will send the photos through with the matching band names or descriptions. I looked some of the bands up but it seems some are double-ups and others are hard to decipher.
Behaviour
hanging around the Shop or nearby on roofs, especially of one house along Crusher Loop Road and nearby trees, I can't be totally sure of the total number but at some stage, I could visually see 8 birds and hear or see in the distance another 10 or so - mostly juveniles or sub-adults with no rings.
