Comments
We stopped and first heard kea calling -- could not see them. As we read the info sign and admired the mountains, the two ran out of the treeline to the southwest and onto the pavement, going straight for the cars. They were wandering under cars, and one pulled a rubber stopper off the underside of a camper van. Did not witness anyone feeding them or trying to attract them, but they were very happy to get within a meter or so of people by their own choice/curiosity. The campervan driver and I were both very careful when pulling out, but we also watched either him or his apparent mate dart across the road (to the east) to investigate a car on that side (fortunately no traffic at that time).
Behaviour
Calling, investigating cars, pulling bits off of campervans.
