A mischievous and cheeky Kea bird, full of personality, stole the spotlight during our encounter. Boldly approaching us, it became instantly fascinated by my wife’s purse, rummaging through it with determined curiosity. To our surprise and amusement, it emerged triumphantly with a small bottle of hand cream in its beak. Without missing a beat, the Kea strutted off with a confident swagger, disappearing beneath a nearby vehicle to inspect its newfound treasure in privacy. Its antics left us—and the gathering crowd of tourists—laughing at the clever and endearing ways of this alpine trickster. We promptly retrieved our hand cream!
