Doing one report for 3+ birds. 11:31am. Heard and sighted bird as above. Bird 1. This bird flew over trees pretty close then landed in trees. Few kea calls heard around the valley, then calls stopped. Calls began again so I started taking video to capture calls. 3+ birds based on distance of calls. Then a kea flew out from where Bird 1 had landed. (On same video) This was likely bird 1 again as no other super close kea calls or sightings but not possible to know for sure. After a few minutes, heard and sighted a different bird (distant) across the road and around the tree line. Took video 2 (low quality, which I comment on during the video). This bird flew just above the trees and towards the tunnel. I have video. Still heard multiple kea calls at different distances. Waited around a few short minutes but no more kea seen or heard and left. No kea seen around construction crews earlier this morning, nor tourist visiting nor car surfing, nor on the far side of the tunnel when I went. Spent a cycle on the far side of the tunnel with binoculars before going back through tunnel. (Cycle was longer due to construction fwiw. Maybe 20 minutes?) It was nice to see kea doing kea things and also not in the Gertrude parking lot but in the trees and above the trees.
