Location Details
Rural property on Maungatapu Road on Te Hoiere/Pelorus River, approximately opposite Elvy Stream where same bird reported recently.
Comments
Bird looks to be in good condition, not injured or sick. When it first arrived it regurgitated a small amount of some white substance twice (collected in case of illness) but it appears to be fine. The bird is still hanging around on Monday 7/9/26 after a day of rain, and the neighbours are beginning to find the bird a nuisance and have asked me to enquire about 'removing' it. I phoned the Kea Conservation Trust on Saturday to report (left a message) and emailed Laura Young on Sunday but have had no response.
Behaviour
Very gregarious, used to people and the built environment. First appeared where people working in the garden then hung around with them, approaching closely, following, entering workshop, interacting with garden tools, car parts, landing on moving tractor etc.
