Kura was banded in August 2019 at Moturau Hut on the Kepler Track. She was named by Olivia Brandt - a helper in the community team at DOC Te Anau, who immediately fell in love with little Kura and her sweet nature. Kura means darling and treasure, but can also mean red feathers, in reference to the beautiful plumage hidden under kea’s wings.
