Otara

Otara Bay is a beautiful bay with the clearest water. It's close to Tairua, in the Coromandel Peninsula, which is where I grew up. This bird, Otara, was banded in 2022 in Arthurs Pass National Park. Two of my mates and I went camping in 2021 around this area and we saw the most wicked shooting star! We could see it so clearly, and it felt like it was coming towards us and continued for ages. I was stoked, and maybe a little nervous at the same time - a feeling not unlike holding a Kea for the first time! Otara was seen to be hanging around with Indi and Chickpea who were both banded at the same time.
