Check up trip to remove some GPS transmitters (from Gabby, Otara, Snoop, Bumble), VHF transmitter removal from Boddington and Hodder. Check up on reports of sick and injured kea including Elespie (looking very weak and sick), Sabino (limping) and general health and blood lead level checks. Most were testing very high for lead and in a poor state. Elespie was taken to the Wildlife Hospital and died from complications associated with severe lead toxicity two days later. Sabino was x-rayed and has a fractured pelvis so will be treated for that as well as lead poisoning with chelation therapy.
