Rimma

Rimma is a beautiful young female kea who was banded at Moturau Hut on the Kepler Track, Fiordland, in August 2019 along with a large group of other cheeky young kea hanging around the area. Having a portion of the kea banded in busy areas such as tracks like this allows everybody (citizen scientists) to keep an eye on the local population, kea life spans, the comings and goings of particular individuals and learn a lot more about the ecology and behaviour of kea in the wild. Rimma the kea was sponsored by Rimma Kade who received a "Name a Kea" gift certificate from her colleagues.
