Not an avid tramper but decided to do a day hike while in Te Anau. My Real NZ bus driver told me about the Kea database on the drive to Milford Sound.
Behaviour
Trying to pinch lunches. He grabbed a ziplock bag with his beak and ran away. The owner of the ziplock bag got it back when she gave chase and he dropped it. He was very interested in another family’s picnic lunch but they didn’t feed him and he didn’t steal anything.
