The white 4 on blue doesn't seem to match a Fiordland bird, but it was definitely a 4 not A, I've got photos and video. So maybe Westland or Arthur's Pass bird has moved around?

Behaviour

All 6 came to check us out while we were descending from summit. After realising we didn't have bags, they flew down to the junction where our bags were, and by the time we caught up with them, one had unzipped a bag and pecked a hole through net pocket to reach a cereal bar. They continued to hang around in spite of repeated shooing attempts.
