This young male bird is one of three banded during August 2019 at Milford Sound Lodge. He was named Guille (short for Guillermo - a Spanish name) by some of the crew working at the lodge in winter 2019. The lodgies are the local kaitiaki (caretakers, minders) of the local kea and embrace sharing this wild, beautiful place with the charismatic mountain parrots. Guille is seen quite often by people exiting Milford Sound through the Homer Tunnel. He will generally drop in and surprise people by landing on wing mirrors. If he does drop in - please resist the urge to feed him. He is a little too well habituated to people which puts him in danger of being injured or made sick by being fed the wrong thing.
